In His Presence #07 – Less is More

The LORD said to Gideon, “You have too many warriors with you. If I let all of you fight the Midianites, the Israelites will boast to me that they saved themselves by their own strength.” Judges 7:2

Any military strategist will tell you that the greater your army, the mightier you will be and the better your chances of gaining victory over your enemies, reason! With a large army you can easily overrun the enemy and hit them from all fronts and multiple locations.

Nations that have dominated world affairs since the start of early civilization have done so with the help of large and well-equipped armies. With the technological advancement, it’s become easier to place less of boots on ground and fight the battle in the air with the help of unmanned drones, even then that isn’t a substitute for numbers which count for military superiority. The strength of African Armies is determined by mostly numbers.

Gods approach to war fare is altogether different, all through His Word, He has deployed several strategies, but the approach remains the same, LESS IS MORE. He has constantly revealed that it’s not the size of the fighting force that matters, with Samson it was a One man army, with Gideon He preferred 300 against an invading army of over 100,000, at times putting women like Deborah a prophetess and housewife at the forefront, and slaying mighty men like Abimelech with a simple millstone thrown over a wall.

What is clear is that, numbers, strength, tactics and experience count for nothing if the LORD is to fight for you. Chances are He will simply want you to show up but not show off, or rather just make presence and leave the rest to Him. God is the only one that’s capable of going into a battle with a few ill-equipped men and still deliver an outstanding victory on any given day.

If the LORD is to fight for you, His approach remains the same, your, network, connections influence and numbers count for nothing so does might. To save yourself the inconvenience of great planning, time and loss, let the LORD decide how He wants to fight the battle for you. Let Him have His way and wait for the proceeds of victory.

In the LORDS plan, trusting Him is the strategy.

Prayer Path

Dear LORD, thank you for your Word, I am constantly faced with battles on almost every side. My you take charge and lead me to victory. I can’t do this on my own, but I trust that with you, victory is certain. In Jesus name. Amen.
