In His Presence #013 – Will you believe!

Jesus said to Him, “Go your way, your son lives.” So, the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and he went his way. John 4:50

The hardest thing for so many believers that I have encountered when it comes to healing is that most of them want you to lay hands and make some sort of prayer, which is okay if it helps someone overcome their unbelief. I say this because the Holy Spirit heals through different ways. It’s not always through one channel called prayer.

Many find it hard to believe this but the truth is Jesus never said any where that we should pray for the sick. He said, “Heal the sick” Matthew 10:8 that’s altogether different from what we are practicing. We spend a lot more time praying for the sick people instead of healing them, this usually ends in frustration. Today I want to share with you a different method of healing that Jesus used that seems rare today yet I’ve found it very effective.

A noble man came to Jesus imploring Him to come to his house to heal his son because he lay at the point of death, instead of Jesus going over to heal the boy, He spoke a word. He said, “Go your way, your son lives” well, how many of us today will accept this as an answer to a prayer request for healing! And yet it is written that the man believed that word and went away. Did his son recover? Yes he did at the same time Jesus spoke the word!

I remember when I had just started out in the healing ministry, a certain lady travelled all the way from Juba, South Sudan to come see me. She had heard about the testimonies of healing the sick from her colleagues. When she arrived, I sat with her and she told me she wasn’t the one that needed healing but her uncle. He had been hospitalized in Lacor hospital in Gulu with intestinal obstruction, he had been operated on severally but instead of getting better he got much worse. He had been in a coma for a while, back home in his village of Adjumani the rest of the family waited for the worst, a dead body perhaps.

As she poured out her heart, I could hear the desperation in her voice, she really wanted God to do something. She badly wanted me to pray. When she finished speaking, I told her, “Your uncle will live and not die” she thought I was encouraging her. She didn’t think much of it. Then I added, “God is going to give you a sign, when you walk into the hospital your uncle will wake up from the coma.” I was instructed by the LORD to ask her to buy a bottle of olive oil so she could anoint her uncle according to James 5:14. After giving her the instructions I got up to leave. And she said, “Is that it, you’re not going to pray” that startled me because I just spoke a word of life as the LORD said to me.

I insisted that it was done, then she said, “What is done” I said the healing, then she added, “Which healing when you haven’t prayed” I politely said to her the LORD has done it. I repeated what I said earlier. Without warning she got up and stormed out of my small living room. She went down to the bus park and boarded for Gulu. She got there past midnight but I was still up when I got a call from her. I didn’t think I was ever going to hear from her ever again after our little scuffle, I thought this is going to go on my resume as the Pastor who refused to pray for a dying man. I wasn’t even sure I should pick up her call because it was late and I wasn’t in a mood for an insult. Never the less I picked up the call and before I could say anything I heard her scream, “He woke up, he woke up like you said, my uncle is awake, what do I do now” I asked her to calm down but she wasn’t having it. I was experiencing two different people, the first one in the morning was too afraid, desperate then turned angry she could have thrown me off a balcony if it were up to her. Now this other person shouting on the other side of the phone was elated and euphoric. I couldn’t reconcile the emotional expression of the two. Once she paused to catch her breath I said to her, “I thought the LORD said through me that your uncle would live and not die and that He was giving you a sign of your uncle waking up from the coma.” That didn’t register, she went, “Oh my God, I cannot believe this, my uncle is a wake”

Eventually she remembered to go buy the olive oil, we prayed over it on the call and she anointed the uncle according to the word of God. To cut the long story short, the uncle was able to get off the bed a few days later and ended up being discharged. Those who waited for the body in the village must have been disappointed so were the grave diggers and everyone who was waiting to milk to situation. I never met the man in real life, but Jolly was able to share the testimony of his healing.

The word of God is the same today. It carries the same anointing because it’s a living word. God will heal you in whichever way He desires, don’t be stuck to a method but believe the word and you will be healed. we are a few weeks from Rapha Conference, perhaps like Jolly you have a patient that can’t be moved or is far away, I believe God will heal them if you will have the faith to stand in the gap like she did and present them before the LORD during the conference. Will you stand in the gap today!

Here is Your Prayer Path
Dear Father, I believe your word for the healing of my loved one(s). In Jesus Name. Amen.
