In His Presence #33 B: He is Merciful (Part 2)

Hands folded over an open Bible

In His Presence · #33 B · He is Merciful Mini Series, Part 2 · 22.05.2020

David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let me fall in the hands of the LORD for His mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.”

1 Chronicles 21:13

There is something that made David a man after Gods own heart. It wasn’t his courage in battle, leadership skills, zeal for the LORD or his commitment to seeking the face of the LORD but his recognition of his errors and the humility to ask for forgiveness.

One would think that a man of his stature that spent hours in the Presence of the LORD wouldn’t fall short in any way, yet in the end he was just a man regardless of his relationship with the LORD.

Falling short is one thing, acknowledging when we do is another but having the meekness to go before the LORD and pleading mercy is a totally different matter altogether. David understood all the stages of restitution. So, should you.

The LORD God is merciful but first we have to know him that way. That will determine not just how soon we seek His face for forgiveness but also how sincere we will be when we approach His Throne.

David knew the LORD as merciful and he was able to approach Him that way. When given the choice of choosing his punishment, he chose to fall into the hands of the LORD because of His great mercy.

I keep wondering, what kind of person chooses to fall into the hands of the LORD and yet it’s clearly written, “It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.” Hebrews 10:3. Only a person who knows the LORD a certain way will have the boldness of taking that option.

May you know Him as merciful.

Here is your Prayer Path

Dear Father, I bless you because you are good and your mercy endures forever. In Jesus name. Amen.
