In His Presence #33 A: He is Merciful (Part 1)

Hands folded over an open Bible

David said to Gad, “I am in deep distress. Let me fall in the hands of the LORD for His mercy is very great; but do not let me fall into the hands of men.”

1 Chronicles 21:13

There is something about a person who is walking deeply with the LORD, they possess a certain meekness that is hard to describe, it’s easy to write them off and take them for granted. Yet they have a deep revelation of Him.

Many come off as quiet, an assuming, uninterested in the affairs of the world and at times seem unbothered about what’s happening around them. They never see themselves as worthy compared to other believers.

They come off as ordinary in all aspects it’s easy to judge them. We never really give these ones the recognition they deserve because they will always appear withdrawn and unexciting.

I have always envied the relationship David had with the LORD; it makes me think very deeply about my own relationship with Him. His entire life was a description of an ordinary man and yet in the eyes of God he was no ordinary man.

Who hasn’t passed judgement against this man especially because of his incident with Bathsheba? His mistake was magnified because of his position as king yet there were possibly many others who had committed even worse. When his sin became public, he humbled himself before the LORD instead of defending himself.

He had a way with the LORD that is hard to describe. One would have thought that after he became king, his privileged position would affect his relationship with God. On the contrary he recognized that he was in that position because of the LORD.

Whenever he made mistakes, he acknowledged them, fell flat before the LORD and pleaded for mercy. His relationship with the LORD made him understand that however grave his mistakes were, it was always better to fall into the hands of the LORD than into the hands of man. It takes a certain depth in the LORD to see Him that way.

How deep are you?

Here is your Prayer Path
