Then Jesus said, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.” At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.

John 5:8-9

The pool near the Sheep Gate was crowded with lots of invalids and a lot of activity in anticipation for the next steering of the water by the Angel of the LORD which happened once every other time.

Jesus stood at a distance and watched them. His eyes were transfixed on one man who had been there for a very long time, 38 years to be exact. Everyone seemed to have help except him. He sympathized with him knowing how long he had been in this situation. When he approached the man, he asked him a question that seemed easy until you’re the one in the situation, “Do you want to be made well?”

I have no idea what is happening with you right now or how long you have been in this situation but no matter how long it’s been, Jesus is looking at you right now and He knows how long you have suffered in the same conditions.

Today is the beginning of a new month and I know you have waited to the point of almost giving up, friend the LORD is asking, “Do you want to be made well?”

The LORD is kind, gracious, loving and He is extending His hand of mercy to you, saying “Get Up, take up your bed and walk”. Will you?

Fold that mat, do not give Him any excuses, try not to justify why you have been there long. Simply, pick up that mat and walk like He has asked you too.
