In His Presence #015 – Seeing God?

Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. Matthew 5:8

Would you like to see the LORD? I mean, is this something you want to experience in your life time! The word of God has given us the assurance and the criteria for seeing the LORD. And it’s with a pure heart.

I have heard of great testimonies of how several people have had encounters with the LORD with powerful visitations. From those I have listened too, many had visits from the LORD while they slept in the visions of the night. Others have met Him during the day and they were caught up in a trance. Some have had encounters that are difficult to explain in words, while others have seen things in the Presence of God which they aren’t even permitted to speak about, they will stay forever as a living memory of the awesome presence of our God.

Then of course we have the theatrics, those who say they have seen the LORD and have been to heaven yet they have never seen Him at all. One would wonder, what makes one lie about something as sensitive as this, its really simple. That they may deceive others, lure them into a trap and take them as captive by presenting themselves as some exalted being, worthy of praise because they see the LORD. This is deception.

Who can see the LORD! Anyone with a pure heart. That means you too can see the LORD provided you have a pure heart. What qualifies for a pure heart? And what does the heart even mean? When the scripture makes mention of the heart it’s in reference to the spirit of the man. It is written, “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” Romans 10:10

The heart is the spirit of a man. For a human is a 3 part being. You are a spirit; you have a soul and you live in a body. It is written, “And may your whole spirit, soul and body be preserved blameless at the coming of the LORD Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:23. The purity the LORD speaks of is the regenerated spirit of the man. The heart therefore doesn’t mean that little organ of flesh pumping blood within you. Its purpose has already been defined, its business is blood and not to think but pump.

The purity of the heart comes from the word of God. it is written, “You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.” John 15:. The regeneration of the spirit of a man is a result of exposure to the word of God and the acceptance of Him who God sent to be the perfect attornment for our sins. This is as purity that you receive by default once you receive the LORD Jesus as a Savior.

Then there is a purity that’s created within you as a direct response to hunger. As you hunger to know Him more, you are filled with the knowledge of Him. As your knowledge of Him increases, you are drawn to Him in a way that isn’t natural. He then draws you to Him, it iswritten, “Draw me, we will run after thee: the king hath brought me into his chambers: we will be glad and rejoice in thee, we will remember thy love more than wine: the upright love thee.” Songs of Solomon 1:4

Once you are drawn to Him, your knowledge of Him increases greatly and out of it, comes rivers of perfect praise flowing from deep within you. It is written, “You are fairer than the sons of men; Grace is poured upon Your lips; therefore, God has blessed You forever. ” Psalms 45:2.

The extent of one’s knowledge of the LORD determines the depth of his worship of Him. The deeper the revelation, the deeper the worship. It is written, “Deep calls unto deep at the noise of Your waterfalls; All Your waves and billows have gone over me.” Psalms 42:7

As you increase in your knowledge of Him, a death starts to occur to the natural man. The first victim is death to the natural desires of your heart, you start to die to THINGS meaning you’re not driven any more by acquisitions be it natural or spiritual but by Him. There is a common mistake that’s made by believers once they come to the knowledge of Christ, they maintain an obsession to things only that this time they want to obtain the spiritual things like gifts, anointing, callings etc. forgetting these are simply expressions of someone, the Person of Christ the Son of the Living God. That means they shouldn’t be sought independently of Him.

Why must a death to things occur, because we are not called to seek things, but to Seek Him who alone sits on the throne of grace. A desire for things be it spiritual only hinders our ability to seek Him with a whole heart. A whole heart is one whose only desire is to know Jesus and Him crucified. This knowledge creates purity leading to a death.

Purity in this case can be quantified by the measure of death. The greater the extent of purity the greater the level of death to natural man and his desires. The greater the measure of death the greater blindness to the natural man. The greater the blindness the greater the spiritual awakening. The greater the awakening the greater the trust. The greater the trust the greater the faith, the greater the faith the greater the move of the Spirit, the greater the move of the Spirit, the greater the glory to the Son of God.

So, you it is written, glory forever Amen.” Romans 11:36 “For of Him, and through Him and to Him are all things, to whom be
glory forever Amen.” Romans 11:36
